About University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, also known as UW-Oshkosh or UW-O, is a public university in Oshkosh, which is a city located in Winnebago County, in Wisconsin state, USA, with a population of nearly 63 000 inhabitants, according to the 2000 census estimate.

The university was established in 1871 and first started as Oshkosh State Normal School, the state's third teacher-training school. It became part of the University of Wisconsin System, in 1971, and shortly after, it adopted its current name.

UW-O presently offers its students a number of 57 undergraduate majors and 17 master-s degree programs, including more than 50 international study abroad programs to 20 different countries, including Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand and Peru.

Athletics

UW-Oshkosh's athletic teams are known as the Titans and they compete in NCAA Division III. Their distinctive colors are black, gold and white.

Over the years, UW-Oshkosh has produced numerous notable alumni, among them also being: Brian Paul - programmer of the Mesa 3D graphics library, Craig Culver - founder and CEO of Culver's, and Kristofor Brown - Hollywood writer/producer/voice actor.
